What actually is Happiness ?
In Psychology, happiness is an emotional or mental state of well being., which is positive or pleasant emotions which can range from being content to intense joy that a person feels from within and gives self satisfaction. It is an emotion .
Is it really tough to be happy ? Being happy is easy or tough ?
Let's give it a thought ,while reading this.
We have food outlets, clubs to play games, parks for health fitness. But imagine during this corona virus time if we had an outlet of happiness.
What would happen ?
All of us would rush there. It would be the profitable business in the world. We all are desperate to have happiness with us.
Some of us earn handsomely and have all types of comforts but are still mentally unsatisfied.
Some of us earn intermediately but are eager to earn more for having comforts.
Some of us earn least but are satisfied that the day has gone with fulfilling our needs.
Have you ever thought sitting an thinking ,what we are in search of our whole life?
The real truth is that we are indulged in short span of happiness by money as it gives us freedom about our basic necessities - A freedom from greatest worry. But actually that happiness is temporary.
Let's look into this example :
Just think that today is the day .You go out to shop and shop extravagantly on things you were longing for . You had the best food you wanted to and carved on it. At the end of the day you are content and happy about the day that went by . You will sleep with those lovely moments about the day.
But what about the next morning ?
The next morning you are back to the routine of yours. But yes, still you are mesmerized by the wonderful day that went by. This may last for few days as slowly after few days what happens ?
You will feel a void in your life ,as if something is missing. again you have a carving for the same things that you did and you run out of happiness. You re plan for the same to curb the urge of being happy.
So, What have you understood here ?
Yes ,that you were running for the materialistic things that gives you short term happiness.
So, Have you ever given a thought from where do we get long-lasting happiness?
The long -lasting happiness comes from within yourself.
How does it come from within ?
It comes by Giving, Sharing and Caring with one another or for one-another. Right.
Just rewind the moments of your life and think when were you happy and what was that something that made you feel happy.
You will surely get the answer.
Happiness is the moment, the outcome ,the reaction, the conclusion ,the effect ,the value of the act that is done by us .
But when ?
When we make a difference in other person's life. A small deed done at that time to help other person gives us inner peace and satisfaction that you did for others will surely give happiness that will last long or will remain with you till the end of your life.
